100 Days in the News: day thirty-seven project:DIY Universe Kit
Welcome to day 37 of the 100 Days in the news project. For 63 more days I will be pulling news stories from my Google reader and making artwork about it!
Today’s inspiration comes from:
Boingboing’s
Okay. So I know it’s spooky day and I should post something Halloween related but what I ask you, is more spooky than you as the creator and sole person of responsibility for trillions of universes?
Artist Johnathan Keats is selling a device in response to Schrödinger’s famous thought experiment in which any kind of measurement causes the universe to split into multiple universes of varying out come. Keat’s work is intended to create a scenario of constant measurement and so constantly create new universes.
Which is fine with me. But why should I buy his when I can make one of my own?
Today’s project is just that, a DIY Universe kit. Two beakers- one setting inside the other, measuring measurement and a clock atop measuring it all. I am selling this device for $19.99.
Total Cost of Materials: $0
Total amount of time spent: 10 min (seriously!)
Amount of fun had: 10! Quick, fun, sassy. More of it! And it has that “Ikea” look…
